However, until now the real cause of this condition is still unknown.  Anyway, if you are pregnant and you are experiencing the same painful episode you shouldn’t worry too much about it.  This is because the condition is only temporary and it will disappear as soon as you have delivered your baby.

Even when the painful episodes will disappear after you give birth, it is still important that you take great care of your health during pregnancy.  It is best if you are able to prevent pregnancy leg cramp before it happens.  You can easily avoid it from occurring by not standing up for long hours.  When you are standing or sitting on a chair, make sure that you don’t cross your legs.

When you are doing so, you are actually restricting the regular flow of blood and this makes your leg to become swollen.  If your job requires you to stand up or sit down for very long hours, you must make sure that your legs are parked in a higher place such as a bench or tool.  From time to time, move around so that you can allow your blood to regulate normally.

One of the best ways on how to treat leg cramps during pregnancy is to perform consistent exercises.  By doing regular exercises, you are actually building up your muscles.  At the same time you are allowing smooth flow of blood throughout your entire body.  You are also helping your heart to pump more rapidly and thus brings with it ample supply of oxygen to the entire part of your body.  Oxygen is very important for the continuity of life and you will certainly feel more refreshed after doing your exercises.

Keep in mind that it is also important that you drink enough water so that your body is not dehydrated.  Any form of liquid is good enough for your body.  You can drink fruit juices or any types of beverages but the best is mineral water.  Try to avoid consuming reverse osmosis water because it does not contain any nutrients at all.  Also, you should limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages, coffee and tea.

Pregnancy and leg cramp can be avoided if you learn how to relax your mind.  You can relax your mind by sitting in a comfortable position before you go to bed.  Don’t straight away lie down on bed because you might experience cramps later on.  Also, it is also beneficial if you take a warm bath before you go to bed.  It is best if you use soothing shower foams so that you can completely feel relaxed.  When you are relaxed, your muscles will be relaxed as well.
